individual Therapy in Folsom & Online

For individuals ready for relief from anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges.

We all need a place where we can show up as we are.

You may be seeking individual therapy for a variety of different reasons. Maybe it’s anxiety that spirals out of control, or feeling depressed, down, and alone. Maybe it’s challenges in intimate relationships, in friendships, with family, or in dating. Perhaps something that happened in your past continues to show up in the present and hold you back.

You are tired of feeling stuck and the truth is, even though you’ve been trying your best, you were never meant to go through the hard stuff in life alone.

You are starting to feel the impact in your everyday life. Maybe..

  • You feel unable to engage in the way you would like to at work or at home

  • How you think of yourself is becoming more and more negative

  • You are struggling to trust others and find yourself walling off

  • You just feel straight up lost, and unclear what the problem actually is

At Together Known, we help individuals just like you.

Throughout our work together, we will honor how you are wired as a relational-being and use cutting-edge research to help cultivate lasting and meaningful change.

Many conditions like anxiety and depression are rooted in either the over-regulation or under-regulation of emotion. Many of us learn to do this within ourselves and in relation to others in order to attempt at getting our needs met. This sort of works, but mostly doesn’t.

Instead, we want you to be able to experience emotional fitness- to know what is happening in your inner/emotional world, to trust it as a reliable guide, and to be able to send clear message to others that help you connect. Enter a more secure, flexible, connected, and resilient you!

How often?

For best results, we recommend all individuals start and do their best to commit to a weekly cadence for sessions. This is important as it will take a little time for a thorough assessment to be done and for our work in session to translate into your day-to-day life. As we make progress, we can discuss if lessening the frequency of sessions aligns with your needs and goals.

How long?

While no case is the same and therapy is always individualized, many clients start seeing small amounts of growth after the first few sessions. At the very least, our hope is that within a short amount of time you will feel heard, understood, and begin to feel hopeful that healing is possible. Some find that 6-12 weeks is enough to resolve immediate challenges, while others feel more supported by longer-term therapy.

FAQs

  • Therapy can be vulnerable and new, so it’s completely natural to be nervous. Taking the step to seek help for the challenges you are facing is a huge step and it takes courage to realize that we can’t always face our issues alone. Therapy is a space where you can be yourself and come just as you are, including feeling nervous. We are committed to finding a way to ensure sessions are as comfortable as possible for you. After meeting together a time or two, most clients find that their nerves begin to fade.

We are here if you want to talk about it during a free phone consultation.

  • It's a great question! Over and over the research tells us that the greatest factor in determining whether therapy is successful or not comes down to the relationship between therapist and client. The consultation call and the first few sessions are a good trial period to get a sense of how it will be to work together. Notice how you feel in sessions. Do you feel understood by your therapist? Do you feel comfortable opening up to them? Usually these are good signs that it's a good fit.

We are always open to your feedback and our ultimate goal is to get you in the best place to reach your therapy goals.

  • While we typically recommend couples therapy that would include both partners for relationship work, sometimes this isn’t possible or isn’t the best fit. Maybe you are wanting to work on patterns in friendships, family relationships, dating, healing from past hurt in a relationship, or need a space that is only yours to work on how you show up in your relationship. We can talk about your specific circumstance in a consultation call and we are happy to make recommendations from there.

  • All therapists at Together Known are considered "out-of-network" which means we do not directly bill insurance companies and you are responsible for the full fee at the time of each session. If you like, we are happy to provide a “superbill” or reimbursement form that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. There is no guarantee for reimbursement, but many clients do choose to pursue this option.
